Which isn't to say they aren't good - because bellfruit are good. I would buy one again. But if the choice were between an Asian pear and a bellfruit, I'd just go with whichever is cheaper, because the taste and inner-texture is exactly the same.
(The Wikipedia entry includes this sentence: "This [fruit] is edible, but flavorless." I disagree; mine had a flavor. An Asian pear flavor.)

Just like Red Bartlett Pears are prettier to look at, maybe even more lovely in a bowl on the kitchen counter but taste the same, or perhaps not even as good as the real deal.
